Canadian director Ruba Nadda’s new film is a beautifully filmed Brief Encounter-esque drama about two people who fall for each other under the hot Egyptian sun.

Patricia Clarkson shows once more that she is one of the finest actresses of her generation. She plays Juliette, the wife of a UN diplomat who is working in Egypt. When Juliette travels to Cairo to meet with him he asks his friend Tareq, (the always outstanding Alexander Siddig (Syriana)), to look after her and show her around Cairo. Together they walk the streets and look at the sights, all the while their feelings begin to lead them away from the city and towards one another.

That is until Juliette’s husband returns...
